Description: Walking to Llanover Church situated near the River Usk, it’s churchyard houses the tomb of Lord and Lady Llanover and bears many inscriptions in Welsh and English. We pass through Llanover Park, in times gone by, the centre of Welsh culture before climbing to the Goose and Cuckoo pub just outside the boundary of the Llanover Estate. Why the Goose and Cuckoo? Legend has it that it was once owned by two formidable ladies , one nicknamed the Goose and one, of course, the Cuckoo! We then return via meadow, wood and canal with lovely views of the Blorenge, Sugar Loaf and Skirrid.
Terrain: Lots of stiles and several steep slopes.
For your rucksack: Enjoy real ale and good food at the pub. Alternatively bring a packed lunch.
