Monmouthshire Walking Festival, backed by TV presenter Kate Humble, has received another welcome boost today in the form of a grant of over one thousand pounds from the Big Lottery Fund.
Monmouthshire Walking Festival Chairperson, Clare Scutts, personally received the cheque for £1,110 from the Big Lottery Fund Outreach Manager for Wales, Andrea Clarke.
“We have had a tremendous start to the festival, which has been backed by TV personality Kate Humble,” says Clare. “To receive this cash has given us a huge boost. We rely on volunteers to sit on the committee and lead the groups but some funds are required to help us get the word out there. We are very grateful to the Big Lottery Fund for giving us that helping hand. It is a real community effort and we are thrilled to see ticket sales being made to all the surrounding counties. We are hoping the weather will be kind to us for the duration as there are some spectacular viewpoints in Monmouthshire – fingers crossed as they say!”
