Walk Leader: Clare Page and John Winser
Date: Sunday 28th October 2012 09:30a.m.
Start & finish point: Goytre Wharf (SO311064).
Distance: Approx 8.5 miles
Time to walk: Approx 4 hours plus one hour for a lunch stop at a pub
Description: A varied walk starting at Goytre Wharf taking in parts of the Mon-Brecon Canal, through Llanover Estate, Llanover Church and fields and woodland. One long steep climb once we get above the canal (but worth it for the views!) and a couple of other up hill stretches – we will not be racing so don’t worry! We will get views of the Skirrid and Sugarloaf early on. From higher up we will get stunning views across the Monmouthshire countryside. Then it’s through woodland and back down to Goytre Wharf.
There will be a stop at a country pub for refreshments (soup & roll or filled rolls – please speak to the walk leader on the day as this has to be booked in advance).
Terrain: Fairly gentle but with one good climb. Several stiles.
For your rucksack: Snacks and drinks.
