Distance: Approx 4.5 miles

Time to walk: Approx 2.5 hours

Description: : From Dingestow Village Hall the walk goes past the church and the first of two castle mounds and then up through fields by the River Trothy rising up to the Hendres with views across to the Black Mountains. The walk joins Offa’s Dyke Path as it rises up into King’s Wood and then turns down through a beautiful beech wood and into an old pine wood, quite light but very cool and quiet, and then on down to join the lane past Treowen, once the tallest house in Monmouthshire. The walk goes on through their fields to a quiet wood where it passes along the ramparts of an ancient motte & bailey castle and back to Dingestow.

Terrain: Gentle ascents and descents. Three stiles. Can be very muddy.
