Description: A walk from the county town of Monmouth to the market town of Abergavenny. The route follows Offa’s Dyke Path from Monmouth through woodland, past orchards and rolling farmland to Llantilio Croesenny. We cross the B4233 then cut westwards across country via Beiliau and New House to Chapel Farm, and thence to Crossway. Crossing Llanymynach Brook, the route takes us into Abergavenny passing Tredilion Park. An alternative route for the sprightly (after a democratic decision!) takes us south across the B4233 (again!) via Ty-Draw, and thence to Ty-Hir and westwards into Abergavenny over Skirrid Bach.
Terrain: Relatively easy, with some hills (approx 600m ascents). It can be muddy in places after prolonged rain. Some road walking. The descent of Skirrid Bach (if chosen) is easy, but can be slippery at times, and walking poles may be useful.
For your rucksack: A packed lunch, drinks, money for bus fares and of course a camera.
Price: £5 per ticket. (Note, the ticket price does not include bus fares.)
