Description: If you want to learn or brush up your hill walking skills then this may be just the event for you. We’ve teamed up again with Treads and Trails (one of Monmouthshire’s leading outdoor activity companies) to offer a practical hill walking skills course.

This event is designed to give you practical skills to use whilst out hill walking. As a group we will plan a route using map and compass skills and transfer this to a route card. Then the group will follow the route card and we will make a dynamic practice of using the map and compass, pacing and timing techniques, walking on a bearing etc, include any access issues that we may come across. Whilst out on the route we will have opportunities to to discuss and demonstrate emergency procedures, use of emergency shelter etc, and look at different types of equipment and clothing that may be used.

Terrain: Nothing too steep.

For your rucksack: Drink, snacks, map and compass.

Price: £5 per ticket
