Usk and Abergavenny Astronomical Societies

Usk Astronomical Society was formed over 25 years ago and has met every week during term time since then.  It has many telescopes and other astronomical equipment for use by members.  We also use the equipment, including our new planetarium, in talks which members give to schools and other organisations.  We have an extensive library of astronomical books and videos which can be borrowed by members.  Visits are organised to places of astronomical interest and we have an annual dinner at Christmas and a barbeque in the summer.

Meeting at Usk Community , Education Centre, Maryport Street, Usk 7:00pm every Thursday in term time.

The adult subscription is £20-00 per year (or £6.70 per term) and £1-00 each attendance. Juniors £2-00 per term and 50p for each attendance.

Prospective members are invited to attend a few meetings as our guest to see if they enjoy themselves before any commitment to join.

Abergavenny Astronomical Society officialy formed February 2011. It is our intention to foster an interest in Astronomy through monthly meetings where guest speakers will appear and any other input would be welcomed. We will also arrange for observations sessions after the talks – weather permitting.

So come along to one of our monthly meetings at the Kings Arms Abergavenny if you are interested, they are very informal, very information and is an excellent venue, we think that you will enjoy it!
