Description: This 10 mile walk starts at Llanfoist, going past the boat house and following the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal which celebrates it’s bicentenary this year. We reach Govilon before we wind our way up the side of Gilwern Hill to Pen-fford-goch pond (Keeper’s Pond). We go via Foxhunters grave onto the summit of the Blorenge to take in the fabulous views of Abergavenny and the Usk valley. After visiting the Punchbowl (a lovely man-made lake) the track leads us to the old tram road, down the so-called ‘big drop’ and back to Llanfoist.
Terrain: Moderate walk with several stiles, one gradual and one steep incline traffic on country lanes.
For your rucksack: : Bring own packed lunch and drink. Bring a camera as there are many opportunities to see wildlife, scenery and local history. At the end of the walk why not visit the many cafes and restaurants available in Abergavenny?
