Alastair was born in Pontypool and has always loved the hills and the countryside of Monmouthshire and beyond. He is now a secondary teacher but has also written a series of walking guides on the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons and Wye Valley. A fourth book on Monmouthshire and Torfaen will be published in 2012.
